Stop 22 – 1904 Fire Station Jail Door

1904 Fire Station Jail Door
00:00 / 00:22

For a hundred years, from eighteen seventy-two until nineteen seventy-two, the city jail was in the back of the fire station. And the paid fire department duty driver also served as the jailer.

This jail door was made by a local blacksmith in eighteen seventy-two. It was saved before the old building was torn down, and the photos show where it once hung, at the rear of the station.
