Stop 13 – 1868 Hand-Drawn Ladder Wagon

1868 Hand-Drawn Ladder Wagon
00:00 / 00:29

This ladder wagon came from the Fire Extinguisher Company of Chicago, Illinois. It carried a forty-foot and a thirty-five-foot extension ladder, a sixteen-foot roof ladder, chemical tanks, and hand tools like pike poles, buckets, and axes.

The eighteen eighty-seven photograph in the background was taken in front of the fire station on the east side of North Sixth Street, between Central and First Avenues.

If you'd like to see one of the uniform jackets worn in that photograph, there's one in the case behind you, to your right.
